Ground Inspection Report

History:-

The earliest record of a West Kirby team goes back to 1893. Since then many
names have been added to the title 'West Kirby', such as Juniors, Central, Wednesday,
Southend and C.L.B.Old Boys.
The club commenced playing on a field at Column Road, and later at Lang Lane.
They led a somewhat nomadic existence in the early years, eventually
settling in 'Banks Road' in 1933. But the Second World War, again left
them without a ground or even a playing kit, until they were offered
a ground at Sandringham Avenue, Hoylake, and West Kirby Wednesday gave
them a kit. after a few years the two clubs merged and assumed the name:
'West Kirby FC'.
The club were soon on the move again when in the late 1950's they secured
their present ground at Marine Park, West Kirby. The club have had some marked success
over the years with wins in most competitions such as:
Pyke Cup (9), Wirral Senior Cup (5), Wirral Am Cup (5), Wirral Junior Cup (2),
Cheshire Amateur Cup (2), First Division Championship (2), and the Wirral Minor Cup.
The committee and players continue to work hard on and off the pitch, to bring back
some silverware to the club, who continue to be stalwarts of the West Cheshire League.
Season 2005/06 was a particularly good year for silverware with the 1st
team winning the Pyke Cup, the 2nd team the 3rd Division , West Cheshire Shield
and Wirral Amateur Cup and the Youth team winning the first West Cheshire
Youth Division and Youth Plate.
Season 2006/07 West Kirby were crowned champions of the 1st Division and the Reserves
finished runners-up in Division 2.
