decision by Vauxhall to build a major car factory at Ellesmere Port
in the 1960's led to the formation of Vauxhall Motors FC. Vauxhall firstly played in the Ellesmere Port League, and then the Wirral Combination, before gaining election to the West Cheshire League Division Two in 1966. 1968
saw Vauxhall gain promotion to Division One, and in 1972 a Vauxhall
Reserve team joined Division Two. 1987,
was a big year in the clubs history, the opening of their new Rivacre
Park ground on Rivacre Road, Ellesmere Port, took place with a game
against an F.A. Eleven, led by the then England manager, Bobby Robson. The
ground now stages 'Conference League Blue Circle North' football, as well as the
West Cheshire League, and is undoubtedly one of the finest small stadia
in the region.
