Ground Inspection Report

History:-

Merseyside Police were formed as far back as 1885 and registered originally
with the Liverpool & Lancashire F.A.
Their first ground was at the corner of Sheil Road, Kensington, just
one mile away from their present home 'Fairfield'.
The team at that time were playing in the Liverpool & District League, with
such teams as Tranmere Rovers, St Helens Town and Skelmersdale Utd.
Merseyside Police, eventually joined Division Two of the West Cheshire
League in the 1985/86 season, having an immediate effect, winning the
Division Two title, along with the West Cheshire Bowl, at the first time of asking.
This success ensured their stay in Division Two was a brief one, gaining
promotion to Division One the very next season. Unluckily a slide in fortunes
saw the police side drop back into the Second division some years later.
Merseyside Police continue to be strong opposition, and over the years
have supplied many players to the National Police team, Success has
continued, more so, in the Liverpool & District cups and Lancashire Amateur Cup,
and just recently winning the 2003/04 Division Two title, thus gaining promotion
back to Division One.
They were relegated from the 1st Division at the end of season 2006/07
and in the close season were forced to change their name to Fairfield Athletic
as the actual number of Policemen playing was minimal.

In season 2008/09 Fairfield Athletic amalgamated with Southport Trinity and their reserves
after finishiing bottom of the erd Division were re-elected at the AGM.
