History:-

'Marine Association Football Club' derives its name from a pub called 'The Marine', which stands at the river end of South Road, Waterloo, Liverpool.

This is where a group of local gentlemen met in 1894 to found the club. There were some early stories that suggested the club was formed as a result of a split from another local team called Waterloo Melville. This is refuted by current club President David Wotherspoon, in his well researched book, titled:

"The Mighty Mariners - The Story of Marine Association Football Club".

The club overall has a long history, but Marine Reserves join the West Cheshire fold for the 2006/07 season, after spending 22 consecutive seasons in the Lancashire Football League, which they joined for the 1984/85 season.

The 2005/06 season showed the strength of the Marine Reserve side, after they finished a creditable runner-up in the Lancashire Football League, narrowly missing out on the title by goal difference.
