League Council Representative:Ken Price Grounds Inspection Report History: Christleton F.C. were founded in 1897. This formation gave the small village a sporting identity, and they went on to dominate the Chester & District league in the years up to the outbreak of the second World war. This domination of Chester & District football continued after the war with both Championship and Cup wins keeping them at the forefront of local Chester soccer. Christleton eventually entered the West Cheshire fold in the 1966-67 season and in that first season won the Second Division championship scoring over 150 goals. Promotion to Division One naturally followed in the 1967-68 season, as did a Second Christleton team who gained Division Two status the same year. Both teams have gone on to consolidate their positions in their respective divisions and have Honours to their name such as; Division One Championship, (as recently as 2001-02 and Runners-up 2004/05), Wirral Senior Cup, Pyke Cup and Cheshire Cup [Runners up 2005/06] as well as a whole host of silverware in local competitions. The 1st team won the Division One Championship in season 2001/02 after a gap of 9 years. The Reserves side lost there place in the 2nd Divison at the end of season 2007/08 after only winning one game. |
