History:- Castrol Social FC became known as Castrol Social FC in 1995.
Castrol were previously called Rivarcre Rossfield but decided to change their name.
Castrol originally started off in the West Cheshire league Division 2 way back in 1989
and weren't promoted to the first Division until the 2001 - 02, as runners up in league
2 the season before. Since Castrol were promoted to Division 1 their highest finish was
8th place back in 2002 - 03 season. In season 2003-04 they battled all season to keep
out of the relegation zone 13th at the mid way point it was only after a late rally that
saw them finish in 14th place.
In the 2004 - 05 Castrol had a mixed season having good cup runs and some impressive results in the league but were unable to achieve the consistency required to challenge for league honours. They remained in the mid-table position throughout the campaign finishing 8th.
In the 2005-06 campaign Castrol Social always looking like potential candidates for the drop to Division Two for most of the season clawed their way back in April to set up an exciting end of season challenge for teams above them. Needing 1 point in their last game to survive they achieved this with 0-0 draw to finish in 14th place. The Youth team started the season in the Youth Division but found that some of their players could not get up for the early kick offs and had to resign from the league.
Last season (2006 - 07) saw Castrol Social flirt with relegation for much of the season but a fine run of form in the latter stages of season saw Castrol avoid relegation and finish up in 11th place with a total of 38pts. In season 2008/09 they won the Pyke cup for the first time after defeating Runcorn Town.
