Ground Inspection Report:-
History:
'Lairds' returned to winning ways in the 1998/99 season, and after a five year wait,
took the West Cheshire Division One title, this was also supplemented by the Pyke Cup,
to complete a magnificent double for the club.
The name of Cammell Laird F.C. Is revered throughout Cheshire, although that reverence
has been gradual, since football was first introduced in 1889.
Their first team, from the Birkenhead ship building yard, was called the "Upper Boiler Shop"
and played at Birkenhead Park.  The name Cammell Laird wasn't used until after the
Second World War, and in 1948 they joined the West Cheshire League.
Success didn't happen overnight and after finishing Runners-up twice, Lairds eventually
won Division Two in the 1957-58 season, and again the following season to gain promotion
to Division One, with their reserve side going into Division Two.
'Lairds' won their first, Division One title in 1968-69, without losing a game, which was
to be the first of many honours for the club, a record that is unsurpassed in local football.
The roll of honour includes numerous wins in, Cheshire Amateur Cup, Pyke Cup [10], Wirral
Senior Cup, Wirral Amateur Cup, Bill Weight Memorial Trophy, Division One championship
[19], Division Two championship [6], and the West Cheshire Bowl [7].

Just a few years ago 'Lairds' also reached the latter stages of the F.A.Vase, beating teams
from a higher level, and successfully flying the flag for the West Cheshire League.

Cammell Laird 1st team were promoted to the North West Counties League in season 2004/
05 and quickly moved through the two divisions to be promoted to the 1st Division of the
Unibond League in season 2006/07. The Reseves who finished runners up in Division 2 in
season 2003/04 took their place in Division 1.

Cammell Laird Youth joined the West Cheshire Youth Division in season 2006/07 winning it
and finishing runners up in the Youth Plate. The reserves finished 2nd from bottom in the 1st
Division and were saved from relegation as ony one was promoted.
